7th Grade Sculpture Projects

Basket Making was a big hit with my seventh graders. I started every student's basket, but each one made the bulk of theirs. The students who wanted more of a challenge wove a double-walled basket.

The seventh graders loved how messy this plaster cloth figure sculpture was. Each student formed their armature. For the mass of the sculpture, students wet plaster cloth and applied it layer by layer. The final touch was a bit of tempura paint.

These are a select few of my students' popsicle towers. The brief was to make a sculpture taller than 18 inches. They had so much fun building, it turned into a competition for tallest
